Breakfast at the hotel. Free day to visit San Giovanni Rotondo, where Padre Pio lived from 1916 until his death on 23 September 1968. The town preserves places connected with the friar’s life and the devotion that developed around him.

In Catholic tradition, the experience of transverberation in August 1918 and the stigmata received in September of that year mark his spiritual history. Accounts of bilocation, fragrances associated with his presence, prophecies and miracles form part of devotion to Padre Pio. Prayer Groups formed around him and helped spread this spirituality.

His care for the sick also took form in Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza, the House for the Relief of Suffering, a hospital built near the convent. The religious narrative recalls his physical and moral suffering, devotion to faith and influence on people of different convictions. On 2 May 1999, John Paul II proclaimed him blessed.

During free time, you may visit Santa Maria delle Grazie church and convent and the areas of the San Pio da Pietrelcina sanctuary, respecting local hours and rules. No guide, additional admissions, reserved ceremony or special access is included that day. Overnight at the hotel.
