Frequently asked questions about travel to Jordan

Find answers to your main questions before planning your trip to Jordan.

Do Brazilian citizens need a visa to travel to Jordan?

Yes. Brazilian citizens holding ordinary passports need a visa to enter Jordan. As Brazil is not on the list of nationalities requiring prior approval, a visa can normally be obtained on arrival at Queen Alia International Airport and at authorized entry points. A single-entry visa currently costs 40 Jordanian dinars and allows an initial stay of one month. Conditions must be confirmed before departure with the Jordanian Ministry of Interior and the official Jordan tourism website.

Is a yellow fever vaccination certificate required?

Yes. Jordan requires an International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis against yellow fever for travelers aged one year and over arriving from countries with a risk of transmission, such as Brazil. The rule may also apply to connections lasting more than 12 hours in risk countries. For a first vaccination, it must be given at least ten days before arrival. Consult the official list provided by Anvisa.

When is the best time to travel to Jordan?

Spring, especially from March to May, and autumn, from September to November, generally bring more pleasant temperatures for exploring Petra, Wadi Rum, Amman and Jerash. Summer can be very hot in the desert, while winter brings lower temperatures and possible rain in higher areas. Dates should be chosen according to the itinerary and planned experiences. Consult the guidance from Jordan’s official tourism authority.

How many days are ideal for exploring Jordan?

A first trip can last around 7 to 9 days, allowing you to explore Amman, Jerash, Madaba, Mount Nebo, Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea. Longer itineraries allow you to add Aqaba, the Dana Reserve, Wadi Mujib, historic castles or more time in Petra and the desert.

Where should I go on a first trip to Jordan?

Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea form the core of a first trip. Amman and Jerash add important archaeological sites, while Madaba and Mount Nebo offer mosaics, landscapes and places linked to the region’s religious history.

Do I need to be physically fit to visit Petra?

Petra can be visited by travelers with different fitness levels, but the archaeological site involves walking over uneven terrain. The route to the Treasury follows the Siq and can be adapted to the traveler’s pace. More distant places, such as the Monastery, require longer walks and climbing around 800 steps.

Can a Jordan itinerary be customized?

Yes. You can adapt the trip length, places visited, hotel category, time in Petra, Wadi Rum experiences and length of stay at the Dead Sea. Jordan can also be combined with Egypt, Turkey, Greece and other destinations in the region.
